Not against talks, but no photo ops for us: Geelani
Separatist leader Syed Ali Geelani today said he was not against talks and believed that “things are settled through dialogue only” but said no to any meeting with the all-party delegation.
“We in principle were never against talks as we believe that even after deadly conflicts and destructive wars, things are settled through a dialogue only,” Geelani said in a statement, issued days ahead of the visit of the all-party parliamentary delegation to the Valley.
Geelani said “if India accepts the disputed nature” of Jammu and Kashmir and starts demilitarisation, the separatist leadership would welcome “any and every move forward in this regard”. “We cannot demonise the sanctity of this grave issue by participating in a photo session or for a cup of tea and appealed to others also not to indulge in this futile exercise,” he said.
