‘Valley Weekends’ set to return from tomorrow

The Tourism Department will be resuming ‘Valley Weekends’, which will have cultural and sports activities for tourists and locals from the wee hours to the evenings, from Saturday.
An official of the Tourism Department said ‘Valley Weekends’ will be held on Saturdays and Sundays.
“Tourists have been missing entertainment activities in the Valley. During ‘Valley Weekends’, we will be organising musical and theatre events in addition to sports and adventure activities, so that the visitors enjoy not only the beauty of the Valley, but its culture also,” he said.
‘Valley Weekends’ will begin with a musical evening this Saturday evening at the Nehru Park, followed by a swimming race at the Nigeen Lake at 5.30 am on Sunday. There will also be cycling, running and hiking events on Sunday.
The event is being held by the Tourism Department in collaboration with the Cultural Academy.
Official said these events were aimed at sending a positive message across the globe that Kashmir was a safe and a tourist-friendly place. “Through the event, we will send out a positive message that Kashmir is safe for travelling. We will organise host of cultural, musical and theatre, poetry, painting events. The adventure lovers can enjoy fishing, cycling and hiking activities,” he added.
