1750 kg contaminated Pakistani dates seized in Srinagar
Food Safety department Monday inspected markets and Mandis in the summer capital and seized around 1750 kilograms of contaminated Pakistani dates.
The inspection was conducted is in view of the deluge of complaints the department received in this Holy month of Ramadan and the rise in demand for dates, leading to violation of health safety regulations.
Hilal Ahmad Mir, Assistant Commissioner, Food Safety (Srinagar) said they inspected many shops found many bags and containers of dates without data cards, and from anonymous sources.
Mir said that they confiscated almost 1750 kilograms of dates of tiger brand which are most probably imported from Pakistan across LoC.
“We have also taken samples from other stock of dates for testing,” he said.
