Encroachments shrink Shiv Pora roads, BB Cant authorities unmoved
Encroachments on the interior roads at Shiv Pora are coming up under the nose of Badami Bagh Cantonment Board authorities, the locals said.
They said the encroachments have squeezed the road width and have equally weakened the river embankment.
A delegation from the locality said that some influential persons are exploiting the post flood situation to encroach the road near Bijli Ghar. “Their walls from road side were damaged by the recent floods. Now, they are re-constructing these walls. However, they are encroaching upon the road by constructing it out of their premises,” they added.
The locals said that the BB Cantt authorities are watching all this as mute spectators.
“We have apprised the officials about the issue. They have not taken any action against the violators for reasons best known to them,” they added.
The locals appealed the BB Cantt officials and the Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Rohit Kansal to look into the matter.
Despite repeated attempts the BB Cantt authorities could not be contacted for comments.
