Geelani raises ‘Chemical Weapon Use’ with OIC asks to address Kashmir Issue

Separatist leader Syed Ali Geelani on Saturday wrote a letter to the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and asked it to address the Kashmir issue during its upcoming session.
“I on the behalf of the oppressed people of Kashmir urge the OIC to address the issue of Kashmir in its forthcoming session keeping in view the belligerent and hostile stance adopted by the Indian state towards the people of Kashmir,” Geelani said in the letter to OIC secretary general Yousef Al Othulmeen.
Geelani wrote that he could not attend the session on the invitation extended to him by the organisation due to “curbs” on his movement and non-availability of travel documents.
The separatist leader said the Kashmir issue was not a territorial problem rather it was a humanistic issue concerning the future of millions of Muslims.
“Kashmiris are bearing the onslaught of the spate of state repression be it in the form of disproportionate use of force against the peaceful protesters, wanton use of the pellet guns which have partially or fully blinded thousands of children, and killing of hundreds of civilians,” he said.
Geelani alleged the use of chemical weapons by the Army in its recent operations against militants. “I would like to bring it to the notice of the OIC that the Indian state has adopted a vitriolic approach even in respect of its own Muslim citizenry which is exemplified by the lack of state action against those Hindu vigilantes who are lynching Muslims in the name of cow protection,” he said.
