Family living near LOC seeks police probe, apprehends Army fired on their house

A family which lives near the Line of Control (LoC) in Mendhar area of Poonch has sought a police probe after their house was hit by a bullet and members had a narrow escape Saturday evening. The family apprehended that the house was targeted by army men as it falls nearly 5 kilometer away from Pakistan Administered Kashmir.
A resident Mohammed Younis and his wife were in their kitchen during the dinner time when a bullet hit the tin shed and pierced it. The family was scared and had sleepless night.
“I could not sleep during the entire night following the incident. In the morning, I went upstairs and found a hole in the tin shed of the kitchen,” said Ayaz Khan, son of Mohammed Younis.
Khan told Kashmir Post that he his parents had a narrow escape last evening. He said that his parents have informed the police and shared photographs with SDPO Mendhar Rayaz Tantray.
“It should be investigated who has fired the bullet. A bullet cannot reach 5 kilometre from Pakistan administered Kashmir (PaK) and hit our kitchen,” said Khan. “ It should be investigated who fired the bullet; whether it was done by Indian army on own civilian or Pakistan army has fired it.”
“It is a matter of investigation. It should be proved because we apprehend something foul.”
He further said that some other persons may be involved but “We have apprehensions that Army may have fired the bullet.”
“I have got some photographs. I have called the family and will look into the issue,” SDPO Mendhar Rayaz Tantray told Kashmir Post.
Heavy firing was also witnessed across the Line of Control in Gulpur and Kandi areas in Poonch district.
Meanwhile an army officer and a trooper sustained injuries when they inadvertently stepped on a landmine along the Line of Control (LoC) in the border district of Poonch.
According to sources, the JCO identified as Sub Om Parkesh of 5 Mahar regiment along with a trooper was on patrol in forward area of Mankote sector of Mendhar in Poonch district, when the incident happened.
They said that during patrolling the officer accidentally stepped on the landmine, which exploded inflicting severe injuries to him.
Sources said that he was immediately shifted to the Military Hospital where from the army referred him to command hospital Udhampur for further treatment.
Meanwhile this morning at Khamba in Nowshera, an army man Sepoy Ashok Kumar of 3 JAT sustained multiple splinter injuries in an accidental mine blast. He has been shifted to a Rajouri hospital, where his condition is stable.
