Mercury stays below zero in Kashmir, Ladakh
Mercury stayed below freezing point across the Kashmir valley and Ladakh though there was a marginal rise in minimum temperature in most places owing to an overcast sky.
Leh was the coldest as mercury settled at -9.7°C, slightly up from the previous night’s-9.9°C, a spokesman for the Meteorological Department said today.
He said the minimum temperature in Kargil increased from yesterday’s -10.3 °C to settle at a low of -9.6°C.
Srinagar recorded the minimum temperature of -1.2°C, slightly up from yesterday’s -1.4°C, the spokesman said. The city yesterday experienced the coldest night of the winter so far.
