Cop killed, 4 injured in militant attack in Sopore: Police
A policeman was killed and four others injured when suspected militants opened fire and lobbed a grenade at a police party in north Kashmir’s Sopore area last night, police said.
Police said militants lobbed a grenade on a party of Special Operations Group of J&K Police’s at Fish Market at around 2.45am, resulting in spot death of constable Muhammad Syed Khan of Kupwara while causing injuries to Inspector Dilraj, Head Constable Yousuful Umar, constable Anayatullah and constable Imtiyaz.
The incident, according to reports, took place when the SOG men were chasing a group of youth during nocturnal protests in the area.
The area has been sealed and searches launched to nab the attackers, police sources disclosed.
