The Kashmir Chamber of Commerce & Industry (Inc) has appealed the Director Tourism, Farooq Ahmed Shah to bring old City the Shaher-e-Khaas on the tourism map and promote it as “heritage destination”.
A KCCI delegation led by its President Sheikh Ashiq picked up the matter during an interaction with Shah and other officials including Divisional Commissioner Kashmir RohitKansal.
“Various issues were raised with the authorities regarding widening of roads and beautification of tourist places to explore new destinations of tourist interest like Jamia Masjid, SR Gunj in ShaherKhaas,” a KCCI spokesman said in a handout adding that promotion of hill resorts in Kashmir was also sought.
“Sheikh Ashiq explained in detail other issues regarding upliftment of Srinagar City,” the handout added.
