200 Social Media Accounts Spreading Anti-National Content Identified: Cyber Police Kashmir

Srinagar, April 3, 2025 – Cyber Police Kashmir has intensified its efforts against online anti-national propaganda, identifying 200 social media accounts over the past three months that were allegedly involved in spreading extremist content, misinformation, and glorifying militancy. Of these, 100 accounts are reported to be operating from outside the country, a spokesperson revealed in a statement issued on Thursday.

Crackdown on Adverse Social Media Handles

Cyber Police emphasized that the identified accounts were operating across multiple platforms, leveraging anonymity to spread divisive narratives. As part of the crackdown:

  • Several accounts have been blocked to curb their influence.
  • Legal action initiated: Multiple First Information Reports (FIRs) have been filed under relevant criminal laws.
  • Security proceedings launched: Individuals linked to these accounts are facing further scrutiny.

Public Appeal for Vigilance

In its statement, Cyber Police urged citizens to remain vigilant and report suspicious online activities to authorities. “Cyber Police Kashmir remains steadfast in its mission to counter online threats and ensure a safe and secure digital environment,” it noted.
