Hurriyet leaders have rejected the puppet Chief Minister’s statement to provide space to resistance camp for dissent and said that battle of ideologies cannot be conditional.
Mufti Sayeed on Tuesday said that he had not given up his idea of battle of ideologies to provide political space to Hurriyet leaders “but some positions are unacceptable.”
The All Parties Hurriyet Conference Chairman, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, in an interview in Srinagar said that people at the helm of affairs in New Delhi and Kashmir had been denying political space to the Kashmiris since 1947. “The pro-India parties in Kashmir have left no stone unturned to choke space for even peaceful means of dissent. These parties are using Indian police and troops as tools to choke space for political dissent of Kashmiris. This regime is no different,” he said.
The veteran Hurriyet leader, Syed Ali Gilani in an interview in Srinagar said, “Government of India and its puppet administration in Kashmir have squeezed political space of Hurriyet leaders and voices of dissent to deny the Kashmiris their inalienable right to self-determination.”
“If Mufti Sayeed wants to give political space to Hurriyet camp, he should first accept Kashmir as a dispute. He (Mufti) first gets Kashmiris arrested for just waving flags and shouting anti-India slogans and then talks of providing them conditional political space for dissent. This is sheer hypocrisy,” he said. He said that it was high time for Mufti and his mentors in India to understand the ground realities in Kashmir and let people decide their future as per the UN resolutions.
The Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front Chairman, Muhammad Yasin Malik, in a statement said, “Battle of ideologies cannot be conditional.” He said that in battle of ideologies, people of different schools of thought are freely allowed to reach out to people to propagate their ideologies. However in case of Kashmir, it seems Mufti does not even know the meaning of battle of ideologies, he added.
The Jammu and Kashmir National Front Chairman, Nayeem Ahmad Khan, in a statement in Srinagar said that Mufti Sayeed had no powers to talk on providing political space to pro-freedom leaders.
The Chairperson of Dukhtaran-e-Millat, Aasiya Andrabi, in her statement said, “Mufti Sayeed is a staunch Indian. How can he provide political space to pro-freedom leaders?” She said that by making such a statement, Mufti wanted to hoodwink the world community about the Kashmiris’ aspirations.
