Efforts on to divide JK, fiddle with its identity: Geelani
A formal and sustained campaign has been started at government level to implement the RSS agenda in this province and paint it with the saffron color with the aim to separate this division from the Kashmir
Hurriyat Conference (G) chairman Syed Ali Geelani today alleged that efforts were underway to separate Jammu from Kashmir on communal lines, fiddle with the state’s Muslim identity and demography and to change the status of Kashmir dispute.
“It is a matter of serious concern that the RSS along with its allied parties is for the first time directly increasing its influence in Jammu region. A formal and sustained campaign has been started at government level to implement the RSS agenda in this province and paint it with the saffron color with the aim to separate this division from the Kashmir. A plan has been formulated to remove all the Muslim officers from key posts in the administration and police department. The attitude of the BJP members in the Assembly is very aggressive and rebellious in this regard. They are hell bent upon to prove the Jammu and Kashmir as two separate entities. They are openly working on this project,” Geelani told the former Chief Justice of Pakistan administered Kashmir (PaK) Syed ManzoorHussainGillani who called on him (Geelani) at his residence Hyderpora here.
“Kashmiri people are passing through very tough times of their history. The communal forces have first time got a direct entry into the administration of Kashmir and they want to implement their long pending agendas of changing the Muslim identity, demography and the status of the Kashmir dispute as soon as possible. By coming in alliance with the BJP, Mufti Sayed has opened the doors for the implementation of wicked policies of RSS and willingly or unwillingly, he has to be the facilitator for all this process. The reports coming from the Jammu division regarding the activities of the communal forces are very concerning and most worrying. The government machinery is being openly and fearlessly used for this process. A strong movement has been launched to remove the Urdu language which is the identity of the Muslims, from even the revenue, police, judiciary and education departments. Jammu has always been the first target of the communal forces and in 1947 these forces not only carried out genocide of the Muslims of this region but they forced about 15 lakh of them to migrate to PaK,” Geelani told his guest.
“The exodus of Pandit brothers from Kashmir was very unfortunate and sorrowful but nobody talks about those Muslims who were forced to migrate from the Jammu division to the PaK whose properties were occupied and captured by these communal forces,” Geelani said adding that “Our struggle is not any Hindu-Muslim issue but it is the issue of right to self determination of millions of Kashmiri people.”
Welcoming the Yatris and tourists in Kashmir, Geelani said, “We will not even shy away from helping them and it is not our favour to them but it is also our religious duty.”
