Protest over water, Power crisis in Jammu

Protest over water, Power crisis in JammuAs the entire Jammu region is facing an acute scarcity of potable water and unprecedented power crisis, activists of Mahila Congress, carrying empty earthen pots, organised a protest in the city to highlight failure of the PDP-BJP coalition regime in solving the problems of the commoners. This protest was held under the leadership of Pradesh Mahila Congress president Indu Pawar.
Addressing party activists, Indu said that residents were confronting worst-ever water and power crisis after total failure of the infrastructure but BJP ministers and legislators were enjoying cool climes of the Kashmir valley. She said that the Jammu region was facing crisis due to failure of the BJP leadership to handle the situation.
“Hours-long unscheduled power cuts are a routine affair in the region. Power has become a luxury. The authorities have failed to ensure supply of electricity even for a couple of hours,” she regretted, adding that BJP leaders, who claimed themselves to be real representatives of the Jammu people, have been “hiding in the Kashmir valley.”
She pointed out that not only ministers and legislators, most of the senior BJP leaders were also putting up in the Valley.
Suman Choudhary, Vandana Makhnotra, Sushma Choudhary, Reeta, Geeta Dogra, Santosh Sharma, Sunita, Sita, Bupinder Kour and others also spoke on the occasion.
