Aristocracy, Ransacking, Raids, Arrests continues amid clashes across Kashmir

All roads leading to Soibugh village in central Kashmir’s Budgam district were sealed by the government forces to prevent a pro-freedom march called by the resistance leadership on Wednesday morning.
Reports and witnesses said that all the entry points to the village have been sealed with army manning the barricades.
Resistance leadership has, in its weekly protest calendar, called people from adjacent areas to march to Soibugh today.
Meanwhile, Thousands of people Wednesday attended a “freedom rally” at Soibugh area of central Kashmir’s Budgam district.
Authorities had deployed heavy contingent of police and paramilitary personnel around Soibugh to prevent people from reaching the venue.
However, local sources said the residents of Soibugh in large numbers assembled in the main Chowk and held the rally. They said that rallyists raised high pitched pro-freedom and anti-India slogans. Local sources told Kashmir Post that soon after rallyists offered Nimaz-e-Zuhur at the venue, they dispersed peacefully but forces deployed some distance away resorted to tear gas shelling resulting in minor clashes in the end.

Residential houses allegedly ransacked in Sopore area
Government forces allegedly ransacked residential houses during nocturnal raids in Sopore area of north Kashmir, locals alleged Wednesday.
Forces raided Warpora area of Sopore last night and resorted to ransacking, they alleged. Police and other forces personnel came around 1:30 AM and ransacked private property before arresting a 18-year-old youth, Masraf Majeed at Warpora.
Soon after the arrest of the youth people came on roads and started protesting against the raids and alleged ransacking in the village. “Forces resorted to tear smoke shelling against protesters,” local sources said adding “shells landed inside their residential premises troubling elderly and kids.

Clashes in Arihal, Newa villages after forces’ raids, restrictions
Clashes erupted in Arihal village of Pulwama in south Kashmir on Wednesday after people staged demonstrations against nocturnal and early morning raids.
Reports and witnesses said that people took to streets today morning after announcements were made over public address systems urging people to come out of their houses.
Forces rushed to the village break up the protests, which triggered clashes, they said.
Meanwhile, clashes erupted in Newa village of the district after forces used teargas shells to disperse youths who staged protesters after defying curfew-like restrictions.
The restrictions were place in view of ‘New chalo’ call issued by the resistance leadership.
