Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti Thursday pointed out that government doctors were indulging in private practice with the help of their colleagues which affects patient care.

She said there are still some doctors who are posted at one place and are working at another. “In order to set the system in place there is need of rationalization like we did in education sector.”
Mehbooba underlined the need of reducing the burden on Srinagar hospitals. “Patients have to visit Srinagar hospitals due to lack of facilities available in far-flung areas and in district headquarters,” she said adding that the Government is working to provide a model hospital to every Constituency in the State, which would be equipped with all modern diagnostic and health care facilities.
Mehbooba said health and education sectors were her top priority. “We are committed to provide the requisite facilities in all health care units.”
The Chief Minister appealed corporate houses to adopt hospitals which will help in upgrading the facilities in health care institutions. “There are model educational institutions which have been adopted by businessmen. Similarly, we want that businessmen should adopt some hospitals to provide facilities and we will provide the manpower,” she said.
She said Dooru and Basohli hospitals have been selected to make them model hospitals.
