12 held for booth capturing in Kashmir
Police Monday arrested 12 persons allegedly involved in booth capturing and not allowing voters to cast vote in frontier Kupwara district.
Sources said at least 12 persons captured polling booth number 3B located at Inderbugh in Lolab valley and did not allow a voter to exercise his franchise.
Acting on the complaint of a woman voter who alleged that persons who had captured the polling booth not only barred her from exercising her right but also hurled volley of abuses towards her, police arrested 12 persons belonging to a particular political party.
“We have registered a case vide FIR number 78/2014 under section 147, 354 RPC against these 12 persons,” a police official said and identified the accused as Manzoor Khan, Ghulam Ahmed Chopan, Fareed Khan, Irshad Khan, Aijaz Chopan, Azad Khan, Ishfaq Khan, Ghulam Rasool Chopan, Muhammad Maqbool Ganaie, Manzoor Khan, Syed Khan and Mudasir Ahmed, all residents of Inderbugh.
