Court awards 10 years jail to rapist in Ganderbal
District and Session Judge Ganderbal Friday awarded 10 years imprisonment and fine of Rs one lakh to a rape convict.
According to KNS, District and Session Judge, Aijaz Ahmad Mir awarded 10 years jail to the convict Muzaffar Raina, 30, for raping a 13-year-old girl in the year 2013 after abducting her.The Court while holding Raina responsible under section 363 and 376 of RPC, declared the convict is sent to seven years of jail under section 363 along with Rs 50 thousand of fine while as under section 376, the court awarded the guilty imprisonment of 10 years along with Rs 50 thousand of fine. The jail of the convict will be concurrent.
The Public Prosecutor Syed Saif-ud-din was pleading before the court on behalf of the victim.
The victim family, meanwhile, pleaded before the court to enhance the quantum of punishment to the convict so that an example could be set for others in the society.
