Admission process goes online for 11 colleges in Kashmir“The online admission process was overdue for the Colleges and it will not only help streamline the admission process, but also make it easier and hassle free,” the Minister said.

Pointing out that the facility will be extended to other colleges in the State, Akhtar added, “The online facility will aid in developing a database of the students and will also facilitate in regulating the admission in more transparent manner.”

The portal, which is aimed to help maintain a proper data of the number of students in accordance with the intake capacity of the colleges, will be further finetuned in the next session so that admissions are made strictly as per cut-off merit. “It will also help the students to get to know about lesser known colleges and the courses available in them,” Akhtar stated.

Earlier, Principal Amar Singh College, Zahoor Ahmad Chatt, presented a brief overview of the online admission portal system. The Portal has been developed by the Department of Information Technology with the assistance from the National Informatics Centre (NIC).
