Name dissent leaders who want to be with India, Geelani tells Jethmalani

Chairman All Parties Hurriyat Conference Syed Ali Geelani Sunday asked chief of Kashmir Committee Ram Jethmalani to name those pro-freedom political leaders who want to be with India.

While commenting over Jethmalani’s remark, Geelani said that it is not right to create confusion and doubts about pro-freedom leadership.

He added: if he is speaking truth then India in no case should delay plebiscite. Jethmalani, the head of the Kashmir Committee, constituted in 2002 to reach out to resistance leaders here, had said he was in constant touch with the dissent leaders and not all of them were “Pakistan agents” and most favoured remaining with India.

Advocating former Pakistan ruler Musharraf’s four-point formula on Kashmir, the former BJP MP and eminent lawyer Jethmalani had said the document should be the basis for a permanent solution to the Kashmir issue and that Musharraf’s efforts were “frustrated” by India.

“We have rejected four point formula of Pervez Musharaf as it does not serve any purpose and we think it is against the aspiration of people of Jammu and Kashmir,” the octogenarian Geelani reiterated.

“Since 1947 we have presented 6 lakh precious sacrifices and we are pursuing right to self-determination and we have out rightly rejected four point formula presented by Musharaf. India and Pakistan are  signatory to eighteen  UN resolutions and while commenting over election processes,” Geelani said.

He said election boycott is a right and there should be no bullying and no need to compel anybody to cast vote against his wishes as it is a fundamental right.

“Election boycott is nothing new and even it is practiced in other states when people resent for mismanagement of authorities,” he said and added: when a nation is deprived of their basic rights and denied right to freedom then they have every right to show resentment and boycott election processes and it is state terrorism if people are compelled to cast their vote against their wishes.
