BJP acceding to PDP’s terms?

Saffron party also explores ‘more compatible’ options

Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) is in talks with Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) over government formation and has accepted several conditions though it is still looking for “more compatible options”.
Sources in BJP told Rising Kashmir that an important meeting is likely to be held regarding the forging of an alliance on Monday.
A senior BJP leader said the two parties are trying to iron out their differences over sensitive issues including Article 370 and revocation of AFSPA.
Chief Spokesperson of PDP Naeem Akthar said PDP has set some important conditions on which the party will not compromise.
“Our core agenda is peace, dialogue and reconciliation. The cross-LoC trade and travel has to go on, it has to improve and flourish. The issues are more important so AFSPA will have to go anyhow. The power projects have to be returned to J&K,” Akhtar added.
Declining to comment weather BJP has accepted his party’s conditions or not, the PDP spokesman said: “If it all happens it will be an issue based alliance with BJP and we are confident that we will not compromise on the issues for which people of Kashmir have trusted us and helped us to win.”
Akthar said informal talks are going on between BJP and PDP. “There is no doubt about that”.
“The government which is able to function effectively and should be able to deliver on political and developmental fronts is what is most important,” Akhtar added.
Meanwhile, a senior leader from BJP, said: “Certainly we have reached a point where we have accepted several conditions of PDP. Most importantly we are about to agree with the CM candidate being from PDP. However, the final decision will be taken in a day or two.”
He added talks are going on with PDP on sensitive issues like Article 370 and AFSPA.
“Let us see what to do further,” another senior BJP leader said, wishing to remain anonymous.
He added that BJP will talk with National Conference leaders as well to seek more “compatible options” for government formation.
The BJP leader also said that an important meeting will be held on Monday to discuss some major issues.
Meanwhile, according to sources, BJP has accepted the PDP condition of having Mufti Sayeed as the chief minister.
