SSRB approves 100 posts for Jammu, 50 for KashmirThe service Selection Board had recently issued advertisement in local dailies on 12th of this month for various posts in Planning and Development department and Industries and Commerce department under notice no. 02 of 2015.
The authorities according to notice have sanctioned near about one hundred and fifty posts in two different departments. Out of total sanctioned posts, Jammu region has secured one hundred posts while only fifty posts haven been approved for the educated unemployed youth of Kashmir region, notice reveals.
The posts according to the notice are for the degree holders who have passed Master, Bachelors degree with economics/statistics/Mathematics/Commerce/Computer application Information Technology.
The notice further reveals that that there is no district wise list in Kashmir. Nonetheless, in Jammu region every district has been included with the numbers of posts too.
The candidates who have passed these degrees are also against the government for failing to advertise the posts equally to the two regions of the state.
“We all are well knowledgeable about the facts that there are no industries in Kashmir where unemployed youth get absorbed after completing their studies. But in Jammu there are industrial units and flourishing private sector. Nonetheless, Jammu has still got loin’s share in the recently issued notice. Our parents have spent thousands of rupees on our education how come we will tolerate this discrimination. We will come on roads and stage protests in case government fails to change the list, said Aabid Ahmad, an unemployed youth from Srinagar.
Another candidate from Srinagar termed this notice as big discrimination and said this is sheer discrimination with the summer capital where government has approved only fifty posts while Jammu district has got more than hundred posts out of the total sanctioned posts. “The height of the injustice is such that Jammu has got 63% share while the populated region has got only 34%,” he said.
Meanwhile, Former chairman of Federation Chamber of Commerce and Industries, Shakeel Qalander said, “Kashmir is being discriminated in all spheres of development by the successive regimes of Jammu and Kashmir from last 25 years.”
Qalander who is also civil society member, said, “Civil society held a meeting last year vis-à-vis regional discrimination meted with Kashmiris in which they asked government to issue ‘white paper’ on the devolution of developmental funds, employment given to youth by recruitment boards, and other issues pertaining to this discrimination.”
Asked about the Jammu district getting lion’s share in comparison with Srinagar district, Qalandar said the Ministers of Jammu have always ensured to provide all benefits to Jammuties while ignoring Kashmiris.
Pertinently, since last six years, more than six lac unemployed youth have registered themselves in various district employment exchanges. According to the latest economic survey, “There are more than three lac fifty thousand unemployed youth in Kashmir while in Jammu province three lac stand unemployed.”
The survey has revealed that the number of unemployed youth in Kashmir are more than unemployed youth in Jammu.
It is pertinent to mention here that during the tenure of Omar led government in the state, the number of posts remained always high as compared to the Kashmir region thereby in this government the discrimination continues to the educated unemployed youth of Kashmir.
