Amarnath Yatra resumes as weather improves
The annual Amarnath Yatra Hindu pilgrimage resumed on Tuesday as the weather improved, police said.
The yatra remained suspended for two days due to inclement weather and blockade of the Jammu-Srinagar highway.
“The highway has been re-opened after two days as landslides triggered by heavy rains were cleared off the road,” a police officer here told IANS.
A fresh batch of 4,633 pilgrims left for the Kashmir Valley on Tuesday.
Pilgrims at the south Kashmir Nunwan (Pahalgam) and Baltal base camps, which were closed due to heavy rains, have been allowed to make the journey to the Himalayan cave shrine, an official said.
