‘Vendors sell commodities at exorbitant rates’

Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution (CAPD) department has “failed” to check the prices of essential commodities across Kashmir, locals and shoppers alleged today.
‘Vendors sell commodities at exorbitant rates’ “The CAPD go offline on these festivities as nothing is being done to control the prices,” locals alleged.
“Vendors sell essential commodities according to their will. A common man is being pushed to wall as authorities don’t go for routine market checking in Kashmir,” they said.
“I want to seek an attention of authorities toward sale of vegetables and other consumables on exorbitant rates. I see how vendors loot the poor customers,” said Fayaz Ahamd Khan of Khadi Mill, Batamaloo.
“In various centrally located markets in Srinagar city particularly in civil line areas most of selfish vegetable vendors, fruit sellers etc do not display approved rate lists instead charge the cost of selling products according to their wish,” he said. The locals urged divisional administration to act tough on this menace and bridle all felonious persons who make miles on the dead structures of others.
Another consumer Aadil Ahmad Wani said how only chicken and meat rate lists have been setup leaving a room for vendors to charge arbitrarily for other essential commodities.
“If meat and chicken have fixed rates why not other commodities including fish, cheese vegetables and fruits have been left out,” he said.
