Dense fog affects traffic in Kashmir, cold wave intensifies, Accident on Srinagar-Baramulla highwayA cold and foggy Monday morning was recorded in Srinagar as the minimum temperature dipped below freezing point at many places in Jammu and Kashmir.

As dense fog forced many people in various places to begin their daily chores late, motorists and commuters out on the streets faced a tough time due to low visibility.

Vehicular traffic moved at a sluggish pace on Srinagar roads, with many drivers preferring to switch on fog lamps on their vehicles.

As per MeT sources heavy fog will occur on Tuesday morning also and visibility will be very low.

Meanwhile, the minimum temperature in Srinagar city today was recorded at 1.3 degrees Celsius.

The overnight minimum temperatures in tourist destinations of Gulmarg and Pahalgam dipped to minus 2.5 and minus 0.9 degrees Celsius respectively.

Mirgund accident update; one dies three injured

Driver of a Tavera, Mushtaq Ahmad Bhat Son of Ali Mohammad of Ratnipora Pulwama died when his vehicle collided with a cement mixer at Mirgund on Srinagar-Baramulla highway.

Three more persons have sustained injuries in the accident.

The vehicle was carrying newspapers to north Kashmir.

The accident occurred on the Srinagar-Baramulla highway near Mirgund Pattan early Monday.

According to reports due to thick fog, the Tavera collided with a cement mixer near Mirgund.

It was immediately not known whether there was any casualty in the accident or not.

Kashmir valley witnessed thick fog since today morning and vehicles had to use head lights even after 9 am.
