NIA summons bar body head Mian Qayoom
The National Investigation Agency (NIA), which is probing the funding of secessionist activities in Kashmir, has summoned J&K High Court Bar Association (JKHCBA) president Mian Qayoom for questioning.
Qayoom has been called to the NIA headquarters, New Delhi, on Wednesday as the investigation into a case pertaining to waging war and hatching a criminal conspiracy against the Indian state entered the fourth month.
“It appears that you (Qayoom) are acquainted with the circumstances of the case which I am assisting in investigating. You are required to appear before me on September 6 at 10:30 am at NIA headquarters, New Delhi, for answering certain questions relating to the case,” reads a letter from the NIA addressed to Qayoom.
Last month, the NIA had searched the house of Qayoom’s close aide advocate Shafi Reshi at the Bulbul Bagh locality of Srinagar. Reshi is also the uncle of ruling Peoples Democratic Party’s lawmaker Yasir Reshi and close to hardline separatist leader Syed Ali Geelani.
