PM Modi Asserts: BJP’s First Government with Absolute Majority in J&K Imminent

UT Temporary Status, BJP Govt will restore statehood to J&K: PM Modi

Jammu, Sep 28: Prime Minister Narendra Modi Saturday prophesied that the first government of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in J&K with absolute majority was a certainty. While addressing the “Vijay Sankalp” rally, which he described as his “last election rally of the current assembly election”, PM Modi said that he went to different areas during his election campaign in J&K during assembly elections and noticed people’s “unprecedented enthusiasm towards BJP.”

“J&K people are suffering due to the National Conference, Congress and PDP’s dynastic families. They (people) want to get rid of this Nizam of dynastic families. They don’t want corruption, discrimination in jobs, terrorism, separatism and violence. They want peace and a better future for their children. That’s why people of J&K want the BJP government,” he said.

Addressing the core constituency of his party, PM Modi singularly focussed his attention on Jammu and its people in a major portion of his address. “Overwhelming polling in the last two phases reflected people’s mood. There was an enthusiastic wave of voting in favour of BJP. Now BJP’s first government in J&K with absolute majority is a certainty,” he said.

“In particular, I would like to tell Jammu people that in history, never such an opportunity has been witnessed, which this election has provided (to Jammu people). Today for the first time, a government in line with the aspirations of the Jammu region is going to be there,” he said.

In tandem with this spirit, the Prime Minister said, “This is a temple city. Don’t leave this opportunity. You cannot miss it. BJP’s government, to be formed after elections, will remove your every pain. Only the BJP government will remove the discrimination faced by Jammu during the past several decades. On October 8, the result will be out on the auspicious occasion of Maa’s Navaratri. We people have always been blessed by Maa Vaishno Devi. October 12 is Vijayadashmi. This year, Vijayadashmi will bring an auspicious beginning for us. Be it Jammu, Samba, Kathua…everywhere only one slogan is resonating i.e., Jammu Ki Yahi Pukar, Aa Rahi Hai BJP Sarkar.”

He said that during this election, J&K was going to write a new chapter. “During the past spanning several decades, only Congress, National Conference (NC) and PDP leaders and their families prospered leaving behind people to face devastation, death and destruction,” he said.

HOW BJP UNDID INJUSTICE WITH JAMMU AND REGIONAL IMBALANCE?

He asserted that the BJP removed regional imbalance to undo injustice with Jammu. “Today, six seats of Jammu region are reserved for STs. This will ensure political representation to Gujjar-Bakerwals, Pahari community and several other such sections of society in J&K. Those who got these rights were overwhelmingly participating in the electoral exercise and enthusiastically voting to ensure the formation of the BJP government,” he said, adding, “This “fixed deposit of trust in the BJP government” is one of our biggest assets. We will leave no stone unturned to protect and preserve this asset (of trust).”

PM Modi said that BJP was engaged in applying balm to the wounds, given by Congress, NC and PDP, to people, irrespective of their religion, caste or ideology. “It (BJP) has announced Pandit Tika Lal Taploo Scheme for return and rehabilitation of Kashmiri Pandits and has also promised to enhance economic assistance of Displaced Persons,” he said.

Taking on political opponents, he said that the trio of Congress, NC and PDP always discriminated against Jammu. “They can do anything for appeasement. Just listen to their addresses to see how they launch a verbal assault on the Dogra dynasty. They level all kinds of accusations to defame Maharaja Hari Singh. The most corrupt family in the country – the Congress family is describing the Dogra (royal) family as “corrupt.” Is this accusation acceptable to the Jammu people?” he asked.

PM Modi stated that the BJP was committed to undo all injustices committed against the Jammu region. “During the last ten years, Jammu got IIT, IIM, AIIMS like big institutions. New roads are being constructed in arid areas of Kathua and Samba districts. Chattargala tunnel construction will bolster connectivity between Kathua and Doda. Congress used to address border villages as “last village”, but the BJP turned them into “first village”. Under the “Vibrant village” scheme, border villages are being developed,” he stated.

Enlisting various initiatives of the BJP government, PM Modi said, “Jammu Ring Road, which will ease congestion and provide connectivity to dozens of adjoining villages, is also being constructed at a fast pace.”

“Electric buses are plying on Jammu roads, Jammu Railway Station is being modernised and Jammu airport is being expanded. BJP government has started Bahu Fort-Mahamaya temple; several places are being developed to give a desired impetus to tourism in Jammu,” he said while mentioning projects related to Gharana wetland, Surinsar lake etc.

“After the completion of the Tawi Riverfront project, when Aarti would be held on the banks of Suryaputri, it would be a sight to behold,” he said.

The Prime Minister also enlisted various initiatives taken to bolster health education and facilities across the Jammu region. “Development works in Jammu will see an impetus in the days to come,” he said.

Spelling out his party’s blue-print for employment general, PM Modi stated, “For the small traders, big industrialists, entrepreneurs and youth of Jammu, the future will be full of opportunities. Our effort is to bring more and more investment to Jammu and open new industries so that youth can find employment in their district. J&K BJP has spelt out several such plans in its manifesto.”

He said that his party ensured a transparent system in the recruitment of government jobs also. “Earlier only the favourites or near and dear ones of Congress, NC and PDP used to get jobs. Don’t allow the return of the old system. Now every youth of J&K will get his due right and honour,” PM Modi said.

Referring to initiatives and future plans for women, he said, “For empowerment of women, their Self-Help Groups are getting generous economic assistance. We are making J&K women “Lakhpati Didi.” A drone pilot scheme for assisting women in farming practices has also been launched.” “Jammu women will get training and drones also under this scheme. J&K BJP has also announced to deposit thousands in the bank accounts of women every month,” he said.

“BJP would ensure zero spending on health expenses and reduce power bills to zero besides providing an opportunity to earn money through the sale of surplus electricity. This is BJP’s resolve,” he said while referring to “Ayushman Bharat Golden Health Card” and “PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana.”

PM Modi also narrated the positive experience of an elder from Jammu on this account and said that the BJP government would also enhance the slab of expenses for free treatment under the Ayushman Golden Card.

“A subsidy of up to Rs 80,000 for setting up solar panels on the rooftop will be given to every family. Besides zero expense on power, through the sale of surplus electricity, every family is likely to earn Rs 25,000-30,000,” he said.

Earlier beginning his address with ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’ and salutation in chaste Dogri, PM Modi said that he felt happy to be among the valorous people of Jammu. They were giving him new inspiration, he said.

“This is the land of Maharaja Hari Singh, Mehar Chand Mahajan and Pandit Prem Nath Dogra. This land has given birth to thousands who sacrificed their life for the motherland. Today it is Bhagat Singh’s birth anniversary. I salute the great revolutionary, who is an inspiration for several youth across the country,” PM Modi said.
