Prohibitory orders on Jammu-Srinagar highway ahead of Amarnath Yatra
Ahead of the annual Amarnath Yatra, prohibitory orders have been imposed on the Jammu-Srinagar national highway, the main route for the annual Hindu pilgrimage.
District Magistrate Ramban on Monday imposed restrictions under section 144 of the CrPC restricting any public interference and gathering on the national highway from Patnitop to Jawahar Tunnel and to prevent protests.
“These restriction shall not apply to Shab-e-Qadir or Friday prayers and Eid congregation of the Muslim community.
“The order shall remain effective from July 2, 2015 till the Shri Amarnathji Yatra concludes,” the order said.
Meanwhile, union Home Secretary L.C. Goyal who chaired a meeting here on Sunday to take stock of the security preparedness for the Yatra visited the mountainous track on the south Kashmir route of the Yatra on Monday.
