Sopore killings unite separatists, issue joint progamme, shutdown on June 17, ‘Sopore Challo’ on 19

In a major development in Kashmir politics on Monday, Hurriyat Conference (G), Hurriyat Conference (M) and Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF), held a joint meeting and announced a protest programme against the mysterious killings in Sopore.

Sopore killings unite separatists, issue joint progamme, shutdown on June 17, 'Sopore Challo' on 19Sources said that the joint meeting was held at Jamia Masjid, Srinagar in which representatives of both the factions of Hurriyat and JKLF participated and expressed their concern over the mysterious killings in Sopore.

They said that Hurriyat (M) was represented by its chairman, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and advocate Shahid ul –Islam, Hurriyat (G) by Altaf Ahmad Shah and Mairaj ul din Kalwal and JKLF was represented by Noor Mohammad Kalwal, Mohammad Altaf Khan and Ajmal Khan.

“The joint meeting of the pro-freedom parties and factions was unanimous to resist against the Indian designs,” sources privy to the meeting told .

The joint meeting later called for a complete shutdown on Wednesday and “Sopore Challo” on Friday.

They said that Hurriyat (G) chairman, Syed Ali Geelani, Hurriyat (M) chairman, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and JKLF chairman, Mohammad Yasin Malik will address a joint public meeting at Sopore after the Friday congregational prayers.
