ISIS flags waved near Srinagar’s Jamia Masjid, Agencies will definitely act against people linked : BJP

Flags of Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) were waved after Friday prayers near Srinagar’s Jamia Masjid.

ISIS flags waved near Srinagar's Jamia Masjid, Agencies will definitely act against people linked - BJPThe pictures tweeted by ANI show couple of men whose face is hidden behind handkerchiefs brandishing flags which has ‘ISIS Kashmir’ written on them.

Last Friday too, Pakistani and ISIS flags were reportedly waved in Srinagar after the Juma-tul-Wida namaz.

This is not the first incident of its type.

Meanwhile Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Friday condemned the regular display of ISIS flags in Jammu and Kashmir and said the law agencies will surely act against the people, who are linked directly or indirectly with the terrorist organisation.
“The ISIS or the IS is a barbaric terrorist organisation. Globally, there is condemnation and there are efforts to end its reign of terror and how it is acting against humanity. Anyone in any form, directly or indirectly, displaying the flag of ISIS or its ideology, they are sending the message that they are either drawn to that ideology or linked to that ideology,” BJP spokesperson Nalin Kohli told ANI.

“And if you are linked to an ideology or its thoughts or displaying the flags of a terrorist organisation , then the law agencies are bound to act and they will act,” he added.

Kohli further said that Jammu and Kashmir witnessed a historic mandate in the assembly polls this time.

“People have voted for aspirations of a democratically elected government to meet their aspirations. As far as the government is concerned, it will definitely work for the welfare of the people of Jammu and Kashmir,” he added.

The BJP leader`s comments came after former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Farooq Abdullah said the waving of ISIS and Pakistan flags reflects the frustration and anger in the youth as nothing is being done for them.

“It is actually the frustration and anger in the youth. Nothing is being done for them. They can`t show their anger by any other method except by putting these flags up,” he told the media in Srinagar.

“Kashmir is in a very bad shape, extremely bad shape. The young generation is going on to a path of destruction and Mufti`s Government is not thinking on how to save the situation. The youth is not educated and wanting to take the gun. It’s evident every time, everywhere. They are attacking towers. What is a tower attack going to do?” said Abdullah.

“I am absolutely clear that the border will never change. Whatever you may do, border is not going to change. What must be done is friendship between the two countries. It is essential for survival of Kashmir and when I say Kashmir, it is Jammu-Kashmir and Ladakh. I remember Vajpayee ji`s words `dost badle ja sakte hain, padosi badle nahi ja sakte`. Either we will go with them in a friendly manner or move towards destruction. I am today repeating those words. They (Pakistan) should also understand this that the Muslims across the world today are facing destruction. Who is responsible for it?” he asked.
