Kashmir protest against burning of Islamic flag

The setting of IS flag with Islamic scripture on fire by Hindu zealots in Rajouri sparked protests in Kashmir Valley. The protesters while denouncing the grimy act of VHP and Bajrang Dal activists demanded their immediate arrest and stringent punishment against them.

Kashmir protest against burning of Islamic flagSeparatist organization Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front activists staged a protest in Maisuma Srinagar demanding safety of Muslims in Rajouri and other parts of Jammu. The protesters were carrying placards and banners seeking action against the Hindu trouble mongers. Police swung into action and dispersed the protesters.

Lawmaker from North Kashmir Engineer Rashid along with his supporters also held a protest demanding security of Muslims in Rajouri. Engineer along with his supporters were shouting slogans against the PDP-BJP coalition government in state.

Meanwhile, curfew continued on the second day in town and internet services were also suspended in the area. As per police sources four youth were arrested on Wednesday during nocturnal raids taking the number of arrests to 19 in two days.

Locals of Rajouri have alleged that police are targeting a particular community on the behest of Hindu extremist forces. (CNS)
