‘PDP not looking for other coalition options’ BJP heaves sigh of relief

BJP heaved a sigh of relief after PDP’s official meeting regarding government formation made it clear that the party was not exploring other coalition options as speculated earlier.
‘PDP not looking for other coalition options’ BJP heaves sigh of reliefTalking to us, senior BJP leader and former Deputy Chief Minister, Nirmal Singh said: “After yesterday’s meeting we came to know that PDP is not looking other options. It was a hopeful hint from PDP although it was unofficial.”
However, the saffron party is yet to receive any formal communiqué from PDP.
Singh said since the period of official mourning following Mufti Muhammad Sayeed’s death has ended, the democratic process of government formation should have begun by now.
PDP has to set the process in motion, the BJP leader added.
“PDP has to take the initiative. So let them decide as soon as possible and then we will communicate what we want,” he said.
“We have already conveyed to Governor that we want to hear from PDP as soon as possible regarding government formation. We now feel they just have to elect their leader and then things will shape up,” Singh added.
Reacting to reports about PDP president, Mehbooba Mufti looking to renegotiate terms of alliance with BJP, he said: “We are hopeful because we did not find any indication of break up from PDP so there is no question of being skeptical about it.”
Asked whether BJP would consider other alliance options, Singh said there was no question of thinking of other parties other than PDP.
