Mohan Bhagwat to visit Jammu on Nov 13, 14

mohan-bhagwat-to-visit-jammu-on-nov-13-14Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat is arriving in Jammu on November 13 for a two-day visit to review activities of Sangh Parivar, including the BJP. Notably his visit comes after the just-concluded Hyderabad conclave of the Sangh Parivar where a feedback about performance of the PDP-BJP coalition government was given.
Bhagwat’s visit is significant in the sense that during his annual Vijaydashmi addresss, he had touched many issues related to J&K. Normally, the Vijaydashmi address is considered as next year’s agenda of the Sangh Parivar.
In the address, the RSS chief had highlighted the plight of West Pakistan Refugees who have been “victims of the worst-ever discrimination meted out to them by the successive state and Central governments.”
He had supported granting citizenship to these refugees, a majority of whom are Dalits. However, Kashmir-centric parties, including the PDP, are opposed to giving citizenship to these displaced families living in Jammu since 1947.
With the BJP heading a government at the Centre and party a part of the alliance in the state, the RSS chief highlighting issues of refugees assumes importance.
Sources said during the national council meeting of the Sangh Parivar at Hyderabad last week, RSS’ central leadership had sought a detailed feedback about the functioning of the coalition government in J&K. The whole “prant team” (top leaders of J&K RSS) had attended the meet and provided the feedback on the situation in the state.
